Building a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k with CSS3

Spectrum 48k keyboard

As you can read in the about page, I started coding very young on the first real home computer, the rubber keyed Spectrum 48k. I collected all of the INPUT magazines, and still have them bound in the loft. They taught BASIC and assembly language programs which could be used for the Dragon 32, Acorn Electron and others.

As an homage to the computer that got me interested in technology at the age of 5, I decided to build a replica CSS3 version without using any images. At the moment it will only work in the lastest webkit browsers such as Google Chrome or Safari, but I’ll be adding support to Firefox pretty soon.

Just as an aside, the two files it uses (html and css) are 16kb in total. That’s the total amount of RAM the original Sinclair ZX Spectrum had before we upgraded…
